Map story editor tutorial
This introduction will show you the main parts of the Map Story Editor, so you can start creating your own maps with pins within minutes.
When you create or open a map of the “Map Story” type, the “Map Story editor” is opened. Here you can edit your map story and see how it will look like.
- Use the menu panel on the left to switch between different parts of the editor.
- Click on the preview buttons to check how the map will adjust to different screen sizes.
Map story components
As you probably noticed, the map editor consists of several parts, that can be switched with the menu on the left side:
Map info
In the map info tab you can name and describe your map story. You can specify some tag filters to provide your customers with quick access to some places.
Places
Places are the main entities of the Mapifator map story. You can filter them by tags and learn more about the place by clicking on it. You can attach to the place some amenities like, for example, parking tourist centers and others and geometries like, for example, boundaries, routes or any custom geometries to tell your customers more about the place.
Markers
Markers are used to show places on the map. With Mapifator you can create beautiful markers - pins, icons, circles, or any custom image.
Tags
Tag a place to provide a piece of visual information about it. In addition, the Mapifator lets to create tag filters for a quick search.
Features
Features let to add structured information about a place. You can choose between different layouts, setup icons and colors.
Amenities
You can add amenities to a map. Amenities - some points of interest you don’t want to describe as places but want to mention. For example, this can be an airport, beach, or parking places. You can add relation to a place to make amenity appear only when the place is selected.
Map settings
Go to map settings to choose a map style and define map settings.
Layouts & Presence
Setup map elements layout and their presents. Here you can also select main map colors and clustering for places.
Social media buttons
You can add social media share buttons to the map and define share text, image and titles.
Embed/share map
Click the “Embed/share” button to get share links and embed code for the map. Click copy button to put the required string into the clipboard.
